The stunts performed by Sikh performers on behalf of martial art Gatka are very harmful and scare the children and their parents who aspire to join Gatka as game. Such stunts are not part of Sikhi. There is no mention of such stunts In ‘Sikhi’ to demonstrate any form of Sikh martial art or Sikh ‘Shastar Vidiya’ neither Sikh Gurus have preached for the same as they have propagated pure Sikhi and traditional martial art among the Sikhs.
The National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) and World Gatka Federation (WGF) had publically opposed such groups who have been indulged in ‘stuntbazi’ and even debarred them from all types of official Gatka competitions. In addition to this, sacred temporal seat of Sikhi – the Akal Takhat Sahib, had also warned such unprincipled activists to shun this practice through a Hukam-nama (holy edict).
The NGAI and WGF appeal to all Gatka players across the globe not to indulge in such ‘stuntbazi’ or ‘bazigiri’ during demonstration of Sikh martial art Gatka at any stage.
